Your plan

Plan your Hifz

Start with what you already know: your daily lines, or your target date. 1 page of the Madinah Mushaf has 15 lines.

Quick plans

15 lines = 1 page · 60 lines = 4 pages

Suggested: 5–7 lines for beginners and busy people · 10–15 lines intermediate · 15+ lines advanced

Days you memorise new lines, in class or at home.

Step-upAdd more lines a day as the student grows stronger. Step-up stops at 60 lines (4 pages) a day.

Advanced settings

Illness, travel, exams or other reasons. We use 2 days unless you change it.

When a juz is finished, these days are only for revising it, with no new lines. Daily revision is part of every class.

Optional. Shows your age when you finish.

How it works

How we work out your Hifz time

No hidden numbers. This is all the calculator uses.

The Quran in lines

The Madinah Mushaf has 604 pages of 15 lines, about 9,060 lines in all. One juz is about 20 pages, or about 302 lines.

Hifz days in a month

A month has about 4.3 weeks. With 5 Hifz days a week, that is about 21.7 days. We take away your days off (2 unless you change it).

Revision after each juz

When a juz is finished, the plan keeps 1 day (or the number you choose) only for revising it. On that day there are no new lines.

Step-up

If you choose step-up, the daily lines go up by your amount every few months, but never above 60 lines (4 pages) a day.

Revision first, then speed

A small portion learned well is better than a big portion that is soon forgotten. Revise every day, and add more lines only when the old lessons are strong.

Questions

Hifz questions

How long does it take to memorise the whole Quran?

It depends on your daily lines and your Hifz days each week. For example, 10 lines a day, 5 days a week, with 2 days off a month and 1 revision day after each juz, takes about 4 years. 15 lines a day (1 page) on the same plan takes about 2 years 8 months. Use the calculator above to see your own plan.

How many lines should a beginner memorise each day?

Most beginners and busy students do well with 5 to 7 lines a day. Intermediate students often manage 10 to 15 lines (up to 1 page). Strong students may do more than 1 page. Start small, and go up only when revision is strong.

Can adults memorise the Quran?

Yes. Many adults memorise the Quran while studying or working. A steady daily portion and daily revision matter more than age. Start with a portion that fits your day, even 5 lines.

What is step-up?

Step-up means adding a few lines to the daily portion every few months, as memorisation becomes easier. For example, start with 10 lines and add 2 lines every 3 months. It is off unless you choose it.

Do you teach Hifz online?

Yes. AFAQIS teaches Hifz one-to-one on Google Meet, with a weekly lesson plan and daily revision, under the supervision of Ustadh Abdullah Al Sanabili. You can start with a free 30-minute trial class.
