Your plan

Plan your khatm

Start with what you already know: your pages a day, or your target date. The Madinah Mushaf has 604 pages, and 1 juz is about 20 pages.

Quick plans

20 pages = about 1 juz

Suggested: ½–1 page just after Qaida · 2–5 pages reading well · 5+ pages fluent

Days you read new pages, in class or at home.

Step-upRead more pages a day as the reading gets easier. Step-up stops at 20 pages (1 juz) a day.

The Quran in pages

The Madinah Mushaf has 604 pages in 30 juz, so one juz is about 20 pages.

Reading days in a month

A month has about 4.3 weeks. With 5 reading days a week, that is about 21.7 days. We take away your days off (2 unless you change it).

Step-up

If you choose step-up, the daily pages go up by your amount every few months, but never above 20 pages (1 juz) a day.

Already read

If you are in the middle of a khatm, choose how many juz you have already read in Advanced settings.

Correct reading first, then speed

Reading correctly comes before reading fast. Add more pages only when the reading is clear and the mistakes are few.

Questions

Khatm and Nazra questions

How long does it take to read the whole Quran?

It depends on your pages a day and your reading days each week. For example, 1 page a day, every day, with 2 days off a month, takes about 1 year 9 months. 5 pages a day, 5 days a week, takes about 6 months. 1 juz (about 20 pages) a day, every day with no days off, takes about 1 month. Use the calculator above to see your own plan.

How many pages should a Nazra student read each day?

Students who have just finished Qaida often read ½ to 1 page a day. Students who read well manage 2 to 5 pages, and fluent readers 5 pages or more. Correct reading comes before speed.

What is Nazra?

Nazra means reading the Quran while looking at the Mushaf. It comes after Qaida, and the aim is fluent and correct reading of the whole Quran.

Can adults learn to read the Quran?

Yes. Many adults start with Qaida, move on to Nazra and finish reading the whole Quran. One-to-one classes let you go at your own pace.

Do you teach Nazra online?

Yes. AFAQIS teaches Nazra one-to-one on Google Meet, with a weekly lesson plan, under the supervision of Ustadh Abdullah Al Sanabili. You can start with a free 30-minute trial class.
